VIZIYA WELCOME & KEYNOTE feat. Matt Eversmann

FUSION Leadership: How to be an Elite Leader and Manager

How can you be elite like a SEAL if you were never in the Navy? How can you lead like a jet pilot if you never served? How can you plan like a general without 30 years of preparation? If you don’t have the entire might of the US Congress behind, you and your authority isn’t backed by the Constitution how can you expect every member of your team to “be like an operator”?

The truth is that many of the military experts project an image of leadership or share lessons that apply to those in charge of thousands of employees but really don’t apply to the average professional. In reality, most of us must manage small teams and that is the secret to FUSION leadership.

Matt spent almost half of his career in the Army Special Operations world and about the same in the conventional forces, so he knows both sides well. He led small groups from 3 soldiers to a company of 120 soldiers in peacetime and combat. A leadership award winner at almost every professional school he attended, Matt devised a system of leadership where we all can influence our teams and get the same results as elite Army Rangers (And you don’t have to get up at 4 AM and do burpees either.) Practical application and simple logic make FUSION Leadership easy for all to apply immediately. Audiences will learn how a focus on 4 essential elements of leadership in order to become exceptional very much like the most elite soldiers. Matt began developing his leadership theory after Black Hawk Down, beta tested it for 15 months in Iraq during the Surge and applied it in his business life for the past 11 years. The four elements are:

  • Leader skills and traits
  • Followership duties and responsibilities
  • Team Atmospherics
  • Rewards, awards and discipline

ORGANIZE FOR SUCCESS

This presentation outlines ways of aligning maintenance organizations for better results.  It shows how the ratio between work type, i.e., reactive to proactive, is really a self fulling prophecy in that this ratio is generally a reflection of the organizational structure.  Simply put, if you want to increase the amount of proactive work you are doing you have to create a strategy to move people from reactive to proactive work.  It talks about strategies on how to do this, some examples of structures that work, and pitfalls to avoid when implementing change.

FUTURE-READY PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE

Let’s have a conversation on how to move your business from reactive to predictive with Oracle Maintenance Cloud and IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud. Maintenance is challenged by the pressures to increase asset reliability and uptime while at the same time managing and reducing maintenance costs. If you could anticipate failures and prevent them – it would do both. Leveraging Maintenance Cloud asset data and maintenance history, IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud Service uses machine learning to predict the useful lifespan of parts, when assets will fail, and the optimal maintenance intervals for each asset and maintenance type. In this session we will provide more details on this ALTERNATIVE maintenance methodology!

Speaker: Margie Steele, Oracle

REPORTING & ANALYTICS FOR MAINTENANCE IMPROVEMENT – CASE STUDY

You can imagine the challenges of having confidence and proving to management that you’re running toward a world-class maintenance organization if you don’t have the business intelligence and data to support you, or can’t gather it in a consistent, clearly understandable and timely manner. This was the challenge at IAMGold for the Maintenance Management team, lead by the Maintenance Project Manager Francois St Arnault.

Using Oracle BI and leveraging VIZIYA’s out-of-the-box Analytics solution, IAMGold was able to quickly and easily create a standardized system of reporting based on clear best practices and maintenance KPI’s across multiple sites, increasing visibility into operations, highlighting areas for improvement, and furthering their organizations’ efforts in the continuous improvement of maintenance.

In this case study, Francois will speak about their analytics journey, from selling the case to the management on the need and speed of a purpose-built Analytics tool, getting buy-in and adoption from the maintenance organization on KPIs, and the steps to best practice reporting and how they leverage this in their daily operations today.

Following this case study, Brittany McDonald, Product Manager for the WorkAlign Analytics, will lead a discussion on reporting best practices as well as detail the advancements in upcoming releases of Analytics to be prepared to take advantage of and leverage.

Speaker: Francois St Arnault

KEYNOTE: MAINTENANCE & INNOVATION feat. Lee Vinsel

Mechanics, landscapers, computer technicians, electricians, engineers, and so many more numerous professionals who work behind-the-scenes to keep society running smoothly. Often, these roles go unnoticed.

Lee Vinsel wants to change that.

Vinsel, an assistant professor in the Department of Science, Technology, and Society at Virginia Tech, has been studying the importance of the maintainers of society since he was a doctoral student at Carnegie Mellon University. He became fascinated with the people who regulate the automobile industry and conduct tests to determine whether vehicles are safe to drive.
